New Subways on the Sun Album "Capsize" Available Now! September 21, 2018
Subways on the Sun's new album Capsize is available now on limited edition vinyl and at digital outlets everywhere! Get it here. Capsize is a collection of songs which showcases a fresh artistic trajectory, and follows our collective struggle to accept the passage of time and identify the voices in our lives that are worth listening to.
It’s immediately evident as anthemic opener "Just To Be With You" channels the heart racing spirit of Muse, with a riff-heavy synth-forward energy that rips through the whole record. Each song is a unique statement, drawing fluidly from each member’s influences. This comes across clearly in the Mew-inspired "Tongues," combining jangly telecaster riffs and dirty-as-hell basslines. Remnants of early Jimmy Eat World shine through both on the album’s title track, "Capsize," and "Time’s Not Long," while "I’m an Island" features lush textures and ethereal vocals akin to The Cure or Death Cab for Cutie. The longing for time to connect and create before our story is over flows through us all. Capsize invites us to embrace that reality, and discover our own ways to stay afloat.

The new album from Subways on the Sun Capsize comes out everywhere next Friday. Watch the lyric video for the song "Know It All" and get an instant download of three new songs now when you pre-order the album on limited edition vinyl here!
Frontman Erick Newbill says, "'Know It All' sums up a lot of what we were processing internally as we wrote songs for this album. While not isolated to this point in history, we live in a time where people are so polarized, convinced that what they think or feel is the only possible path. We are surrounded by strong opinions from individuals and groups that are unwilling to waver, most of us even being guilty of this ourselves at times. None of us truly know it all, and could benefit greatly from taking more time to listen to each other and find common ground instead of trying to drown each other out."

New Subways on the Sun Album "Capsize" Out September 21st! New Music Video and Pre-orders Available Now! August 1, 2018
Seattle, WA indie rockers Subways on the Sun will release their sophomore album Capsize on September 21st and we're beyond excited to premiere the new music video for the song "Hope You Like Getting Old" today with KEXP. The album is available for pre-order now on limited edition vinyl and at digital outlets everywhere here and all pre-orders include an instant download of the new single. Additionally, the digital single is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and all other streaming outlets now.
While the band set sail with its shimmering guitar-pop debut The Honeymoon Stagecoach in 2013, Capsize, steers a course into grittier territory. Capsize is a collection of songs which showcases a fresh artistic trajectory, and follows our collective struggle to accept the passage of time and identify the voices in our lives that are worth listening to. And it’s immediately evident as anthemic opener “Just To Be With You” channels the heart racing spirit of Muse, with a riff-heavy synth-forward energy that rips through the whole record.
Each song to be a unique statement, drawing fluidly from each member’s influences. This comes across clearly in the Mew-inspired “Tongues,” combining jangly telecaster riffs and dirty-as-hell basslines. Remnants of early Jimmy Eat World shine through both on the album’s title track, “Capsize,” and “Time’s Not Long,” while “I’m an Island” features lush textures and ethereal vocals akin to The Cure or Death Cab for Cutie.
We're excited to announce that we've signed the Seattle indie rockers Subways on the Sun and will be releasing the band's sophomore album Capsize on September 21st on LP/Digital. Additionally, today marks the official re-release of the 2013 debut album The Honeymoon Stagecoach which is available as a free download on the Spartan website and Bandcamp and on all streaming services here.
Subways on the Sun brings an informed and fresh perspective to northwest indie rock. With The Honeymoon Stagecoach, the band "crafted an immaculately-arranged and satisfying debut album that pays homage to both their hometown and the decade in which it became ground zero for rock" (The Fire Note). Haunting rhythms and glistening guitar hooks propel the album forward, bound together by contagious pop melodies. The album sees the band effortlessly merging the dark groove of Silversun Pickups, power pop of The Posies, and tongue-in-cheek quirk of Built to Spill and Blur to create a cohesive debut that impresses and inspires.
Vocalist/guitarist Erick Newbill says:
Being able to announce a release date is so exciting for us because the wait is over both for us and our fans. We encountered a number of setbacks between The Honeymoon Stagecoach and Capsize, and it ended up taking us a lot longer to finish the new album than we’d planned. We cannot wait to get the songs out there.
And as band that is used to doing everything ourselves, joining forces with Spartan Records means that the music will reach so many more people than before. John Frazier is a long time friend and ally and we can’t think of a better label to be working with. As a fan, I’ve kept my eye out for the latest releases from Spartan because the catalog has always been so varied and impressive, and I’m thrilled to have Capsize released on the label.
Look for a new song off the band's upcoming release Capsize on August 1st to coincide with the launch of pre-orders and more!
